The birth hour corresponds to the Hour Pillar in your BaZi, affecting one-twelfth of the stem-branch combinations. If you only know a general time range, you can try plotting charts for adjacent two-hour intervals and compare the differences. Uncertainty in the birth hour is a common starting point in learning BaZi, not a limitation of the tool itself.

What is the difference between the Lunar and Solar calendar? Which should I use?

BaZi plotting uses the sexagenary solar calendar (Gan-Zhi calendar), which has a relatively fixed correspondence with the solar (Gregorian) calendar but differs from the lunar calendar.
